Tips to Reduce Eye-Strain
Reducing eye strain is essential, especially if you spend a lot of time in front of screens. Here are some eye exercises that can help:
20-20-20 Rule
Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. This simple rule helps your eyes relax and reduces strain.
Palming
1. Rub your hands together to generate warmth.
2. Gently rest your palms over your closed eyes without applying pressure.
3. Take a moment to relax and hold this position for a few minutes, picturing a serene scene.
Eye Rolling
1. Sit comfortably and shut your eyes.
2. Gently rotate your eyes in a circular motion.
3. Do this in one direction for a few seconds, then switch to the other.
Focus Change
1. Hold a pen or thumb approximately 10 inches from your face.
2. Focus on the pen/thumb.
3. Gradually redirect your attention to something at least 20 feet away.
4. Switch between concentrating on the pen and thumb and the distant view object.
Figure Eight
1. Envision a large figure eight lying on its side (similar to the infinity symbol).
2. Slowly trace the shape with your eyes.
3. Perform this in one direction for a few minutes, then switch.
Blinking
1. Quickly blink your eyes for a few seconds.
2. Close your eyes and take a moment to relax.
3. Repeat this multiple times.
Near and Far Focus
1. position your thumb 10 inches away from your face and concentrate on it for 15 seconds.
2. Focus on an object 10 to 20 feet away for 15 seconds.
3. Repeat multiple times.
Incorporating these exercises into your daily routine can help alleviate eye strain and improve overall eye health. Your eyes will thank you!
